FOOTPRINTS

One night I dreamed a dream.
I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
one belonging to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life shot before me
I looked back at the footprints in the sand
and to my surprise,
I noticed that many times along the path of my life
there was only one set of footprints.
I realized that this was at the lowest
and saddest times of my life.
This always bothered me
and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.
"Lord, you told me when I decided to follow You,
You would walk and talk with me all the way.
But I'm aware that during the most troublesome
times of my life there is only one set of footprints.
I just don't understand why, when I needed You most,
You leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child,
I love you and will never leave you
never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints
it was then that I carried you."

by Margaret Fishback Powers

This passage basically sums up my feelings towards the Lord. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord is always with me. Watching over me, guiding me and protecting me. I love how this passage said that during your most troublesome times, the Lord will lift you up and carry you. I believe that this is what he has done for me at certain points in my life during the past few years. For me, the bad things have outweighted the good things recently, but this is when my faith in Him is the strongest. When things are not looking so bright, just knowing that the Lord is with me and has something better planned for me keeps me going. But Im not saying that my faith is only strong when things are bad. When things are good, he is the first person I thank and acknowledge because it was his doing that got me there.
I am currently trying to be the best person I can be right now. Being in the Philippines and being isolated from everyone and everything back home has given me time to reflect on myself as a person and as a child of God. This isolation has given me the opportunity to clear my mind and listen to what God is telling me. Im really trying to find out who I am at this point in my life. Its going to be a stuggle but I know the Lord will be there to pick me up and carry me when I stumble.....
I never really got to say this but I just wanna thank my friend Kevin who got me started on my walk with the Lord a couple years back. No words can explain what he has done for me. And also the others that picked me up when I fell off. Dennis, Chrizle, Melody and my pops. Thanks. Also for the rest of my people, you are always ALL in my prayers.

BYE BYE BIBBY

The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to acquire veteran point guard Mike Bibby from the Sacramento Kings.

Hawks owner Michael Gearon Jr. says the Hawks are to send four players to the Kings. Among them are 2007 first-round pick Shelden Williams and starting point guard Anthony Johnson.

The Hawks also would send guard Tyronn Lue and veteran forward-center Lorenzen Wright to the Kings.

THERE THEY GO AGAIN

After the internet exploded with the pictures of the Kings Dancers partying. It is not a secret how the Kings dancers get down on a Friday night. The Sacramento Bee has picked up the story, and it looks like it might be a PR nightmare on the horizon for the franchise. As Felipe Gomez from Three’s Company would say “Chaam, Chaam, Chaam”.

KIDD TRADED PART II

The New Jersey Nets have reached agreement on their long-discussed trade of Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks, SI.com has confirmed from league sources. The Mavericks will send New Jersey the semi-retired Keith Van Horn in addition to Trenton Hassell, as well as Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, two first-round picks and cash. In the exchange Dallas will get Kidd and Malik Allen.

LA LA VASQUEZ

Sports Illustrated did a spread on La La Vaquez along with other players' wives. Cant hate on you Melo. Veeeeey Nice! Did she look like this when she was on MTV??

SAC TOWN!

Check out the Sacramento Kings dancers. For reals. Dancing during gametime, stripping during primetime! Thats what im talking about. Ron Artest, I think you should stay in Sac Town buddy. F@#k the growth of Francisco Garcia and John Salmons. If I was ever at a home game, I'd be waiting outside for the dancers, not the players. And thats the Truf son.

DEAL BLOCKED BY DEVEAN GEORGE

Kidd was supposed to get traded to the Mavs but I guess D. George has some kind of clause in his 1-year contract with the Mavs and when he heard about the trade, he did not consent to being traded to the Nets. They better work something out cause the trading deadline is just around the corner. Feb. 21.

Thursday

J. KIDD BACK WEST??

Jason Kidd finally got what he wanted, a trade. Handle it. Too bad the Lakers are going to the ship this year.....HOLLA!

I hope to be at the parade this coming summer in LA next to the Staples Center under the blazing heat. Who's going with me?

VALENTINES DAY

For those that dont know, and thats basically everyone. Here it is....

As early as the fourth century B.C., the Romans engaged in an annual young man's rite to passage to the God Lupercus. The names of the teenage women were placed in a box and drawn at random by adolescent men; thus, a man was assigned a woman companion
for the duration of the year, after which another lottery was staged. After eight hundred years of this cruel practice, the early church fathers sought to end this practice... They found an answer in Valentine, a bishop who had been martyred some two hundred years earlier.According to church tradition St. Valentine was a priest near Rome in about the year 270 A.D. At that time the Roman Emperor Claudius-II who had issued an edict forbidding marriage. This was around when the heyday of Roman empire had almost come to an end. Lack of quality administrators led to frequent civil strife. Learning declined, taxation increased, and trade slumped to a low, precarious level. And the Gauls, Slavs, Huns, Turks and Mongolians from Northern Europe and Asian increased their pressure on the empire's boundaries. The empire was grown too large to be shielded from external aggression and internal chaos with existing forces. Thus more of capable men were required to be recruited as soldiers and officers. When Claudius became the emperor, he felt that married men were more emotionally attached to their families, and thus, will not make good soldiers. So to assure quality soldiers, he banned marriage.Valentine, a bishop , seeing the trauma of young lovers, met them in a secret place, and joined them in the sacrament of matrimony. Claudius learned of this "friend of lovers," and had him arrested. The emperor, impressed with the young priest's dignity and conviction, attempted to convert him to the roman gods, to save him from certain execution. Valentine refused to recognize Roman Gods and even attempted to convert the emperor, knowing the consequences fully. On February 24, 270, Valentine was executed."From your Valentine"While Valentine was in prison awaiting his fate, he came in contact with his jailor, Asterius. The jailor had a blind daughter. Asterius requested him to heal his daughter. Through his faith he miraculously restored the sight of Asterius' daughter. Just before his execution, he asked for a pen and paper from his jailor, and signed a farewell message to her "From Your Valentine," a phrase that lived ever after.Valentine thus become a Patron Saint, and spiritual overseer of an annual festival. The festival involved young Romans offering women they admired, and wished to court, handwritten greetings of affection on February 14. The greeting cards acquired St.Valentine's name.

the five people you meet in heaven

the five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom

Yesterday was a very boring and lazy day. I didnt do that much. I basically just layed in bed, got up, walked around the condo, then layed back down. It was one of those days I guess. In the afternoon though I picked up this book and started reading it. After reading a few pages, I was hooked and read the rest of the day. I ended up finishing it before I went to sleep. This had to be one of the best books I have ever read. All I can say is, Thank You Mr. Cole for leaving this book here with me.

THE BERTH OF A NEW ERA

All I can say is, im very proud of this guy. What a perfect time to have one of his best games, if not his best game this season. He led his team to victory and a first ever PBA Finals berth for his team in the Game 7 Semi-finals this past Sunday.
Check out the link for the article.

LENT

Lent is the church season in which we prepare for Easter Sunday. It is a special time of prayer and reflection, of confession and self-sacrifice. It is a time to remember the temptation, the suffering, and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Most of all it is a time to ready ourselves for the humble thankfulness and sheer joy of Easter morning.

For those that didnt know, this basically sums up Lent in a nutshell. So, what will you guys give up? Or will you guys give anything up at all. I know that its hard to give up things you like. Food, smoking, clubbing, etc. But its for a good reason. I think that Lent really shows who you are as a person and shows your commitment towards your faith. And during Lent when you guys feel that urge, just pray. Praying will keep your mind off what you give up. Its not going to be easy but it will be well worth it. Hope you guys really consider this. Take care. God Bless.

Tuesday

REALIZATION

You guys ever feel that when you're part of something greater that you have that feeling like you're walking on air. Well, ill get straight to the point. It is a good thing striving to be part of something because it keeps you focused and gives you that feeling of importance, but dont forget that you already ARE part of something great. And thats your family. Dont take them for granted. I realized that when all things fail and you have no one to turn to, family will always be there.

WHY ARE YOU HERE?

What is your purpose?

Have any of you guys ever wondered what your lifes purpose is? I sure have. I think this is a good question that we should all ask ourselves. I believe that "living it up" is just not enough. I know that everyone wants to make tons of money, live well and live that celebrity type lifestyle. I mean, there is nothing wrong with that. I cant deny that ive thought the same way, and sometimes still do. BUT, material things shouldnt be what drives us. I know im not a great writer and this might not sound one bit appealing, and its like 4 in the morning and im writing this half-asleep. lol. So here it is. Check out this book. The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. This is a great book and I cant praise it enough. Im not a high school teacher trying to make you read Lord of the Flies or something like that, im just saying give it a shot. When you're in a bookstore or nearby one, go peep it out. Whats 15 to 20 minutes of your day reading? Nothing. Thats 15 to 20 minutes of you doing nothing at home anyways. Get up. Get in your car. Drive to your local Barnes and Nobles. Pick it up. Buy it. Read it.

Too lazy? at least check out the site and read the synopsis son!!

LAKERS TRADE FOR GASOL

The greatest thing to happen since the invention of pants with pockets...

This has been the first good move that GM Mitch Kupchak has made since giving Devon George a contract extension. lol. yea right. Naw, since trading Shaq and keeping Kobe. Planning for the Lakers future that is. I know for a fact all Laker faithfuls are happy to hear about this news. See you guys at the Laker parade this summer....

The Los Angeles Lakers
have acquired Memphis center Pau Gasol, league sources said Friday afternoon.
The Lakers will send center kwame Brown
and rookie point guard Javaris Crittenton to Memphis in the trade, along with two future No. 1 picks.
It is possible the Lakers will re-sign free agent Aaron Mckie
to send to Memphis to balance the contracts in the deal.
Gasol, a 7-footer, can play center for the Lakers until Andrew Bynum
returns from a knee injury sometime in March. Then, Gasol, who is averaging 18.9 points and 8.8 rebounds, can slide over into the power forward spot. His passing and shooting skills are ideal to operate in the triangle offense. This move pushes the Lakers into championship contention.
For Memphis, Brown’s $9 million contract comes off the salary cap at the end of the season. Gasol has three years left and nearly $50 million left on his contract. He is averaging nearly 19 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Grizzlies

SERIOUSLY

The other day, the homies and myself went downstairs to eat. We stopped by this Dairy Queen afterwards. Out of nowhere tell me why this broad said i looked like Sean Kingston??? hahaha. We were like wtf?? Are you serious?? I didnt know my Jamaican roots were that noticeable.

This just shows how some people out here are just plain ignorant. Also how multiple individuals have said that Rich looks like Kobe Bryant, Amare Stoudamire, Tayshaun Prince and basically, every famous black athlete. I think this ties into the stereotype that all black people look alike. And how Fil-Ams, like myself, look like Sean Kingston. Lord-a-mercy!

Thursday

IN THE BEGINNING...

..there was boredom. Thats why this blog was created. Due to having way too much free time on my hands. For those that dont know, ive been in the Philippines for a minute now chasing my "hoop" dreams. lol. Other than going to practices, working out, watching my boy Ryan "the energizer" Reyes' PBA games and making an occasional trip to the nearby mall to get a decent cut, we really dont do much out here. Eat, sleep, internet, sleep some more. Not like when the whole LA Showtime team was out here this past year. Due to boredom, this blog was created just to get my thoughts out there. Enjoy homos.
